Sinusitis Symptoms
Sinuses are empty cavities within your cheekbones, around your eyes, and behind
your nose. Normally, your sinuses are filled with air, but when the sinuses become
blocked, they can fill with mucus and become inflamed and infected (sinusitis).
Sinusitis sufferers experience a wide range of uncomfortable symptoms, including:
- Facial pressure/congestion
- Stuffy nose
- Thick nasal discharge
- Fever
- Headaches/ear fullness
- Fatigue
- Dental pain
- Bad breath
Chronic Sinusitis
Although some sinus infections can be brief, lasting 7 to 10 days, many people struggle with chronic sinus infections lasting 3 months or longer. In the case of chronic sinusitis, symptoms may vary in severity and prevalence, but often include nasal congestion, facial pain/pressure, discolored nasal discharge and decreased sense of smell. For chronic sinusitis sufferers, the toll on quality of life can also be dramatic – including missed work, fatigue from loss of sleep, and even detachment from family and social life.
